One person was injured in a motorcycle vs deer accident in Martell Township on Saturday. According to the Pierce County Sheriffs Department, 26yr old Cameron Jacobsen of Spring Valley was traveling southbound on Hwy 63 when he struck a deer and was ejected from the motorcycle. Jacobsen was taken to Regions Hospital with undetermined injuries.


Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident in Hager City on Saturday. According to the Pierce County Sheriffs Department, 25yr old Devon Wittman of Red Wing was northbound on 825th street when he failed to negotiate a curve, drove left of center in entered the west ditch. Wittman and his passenger 25yr old Makenzie Franklin of Red Wing were taken to Red Wing Mayo Hospital.


Two people were injured in a one vehicle accident in River Falls Township on Sunday. According to the Pierce County Sheriffs Department, 54yr old Willam Barillas of Ellsworth was traveling southbound on Hwy65 when he crossed the centered line and entered the east ditch rolling the vehicle several times. Barillas' passenger 57yr old Sandra Barillas of Ellsworth had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both were transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.


The line went from Durand Food Pantry back to Hwy 10 during a milk and cheese distribution yesterday in Durand. Randy Koller from the Pepin County Dairy Promotions Committee says the goal of the events are to expand consumption of dairy products.  Organizers distributed 310 gallons of milk along with over 90 pounds of cheese during the event from 4-6pm.



The Rochester man accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend and her daughter is in police custody in South Carolina.   Twenty-nine-year-old Renard Carter is facing charges in Olmsted County for the deaths of 23-year-old Kiona Foote and her two-year-old girl apparently last Thursday.  The criminal complaint says Carter recorded the woman's murder and posted it on social media, and investigators were given videos from concerned citizens.  Police found Carter in South Carolina Sunday night  and he went live on social media while holding a shotgun.  Authorities say he refused to drop the gun and was shot multiple times.   Carter remained hospitalized Monday.  It's believed he has a child with another woman in South Carolina.



A La Crosse woman is charged with aggravated battery and use of a dangerous weapon after an incident while she and her boyfriend were riding with an Uber driver.  Caprice Delegrave is accused of stabbing the victim.  His name hasn’t been released.  The driver says he picked up the couple outside a restaurant in Onalaska last Tuesday and they began arguing.  The boyfriend was taken to Gundersen Health System after Delagrave left.  He had to have surgery to repair a collapsed lung.



The Governor's office is hoping to restart the state's tourism industry with 8 million dollars in funding to local tourism and travel groups. Tourism Secretary Sara Meaney says that grant funding will be spent on promoting safe and healthy travel in the state.  Meany says that over 200-thousand people are employed directly in tourism, and many more work in areas that are reliant on travelers and their spending.



The Wisconsin Supreme Court has decided the Green Party waited too long to file a challenge against the ruling that is keeping its candidate off the ballot.  Conservative Justice Brian Hagedorn joined with the court’s liberal justices Monday on the four-to-three vote.  Democrats worried the presence of Green Party presidential candidate Howie Hawkins would take enough votes from former Vice President Joe Biden to give President Trump Wisconsin’s electoral votes.  Trump won the state in 2016, but by less than 23 thousand votes.  The court also vacated an earlier order Monday, allowing local officials to mail out absentee ballots now.

There's no word on how an Army recruit from Wisconsin died in South Carolina. Michael Wise of Kewaskum was found dead in his barracks Saturday morning. The Army says Wise's death has nothing to do with the coronavirus, and he was not killed in a training exercise. Wise leaves behind a pregnant wife and a two-year-old daughter. He also served in the Air Force for about a year-and-a-half. His mother says he recently re-enlisted to continue serving his country.


They just moved in a month ago.  Now, some students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are heading back home.  They are getting off-campus before a two-week shift to online classes.  Leaders at the university are all but ordering undergraduate students to stay in their dorms or apartments to slow an alarming spike in coronavirus cases.  Dane County Executive Joe Parisi is blaming the students, saying the county had a pretty good handle on the virus until they returned.  He says U-W students are putting everyone at risk.


Gun sales are through the roof as a surge that started in March has continued.  Stores are filled with first-time buyers during the coronavirus pandemic.  Sellers say fear has driven many buyers to consider the purchase of a weapon.  They are reacting to the summer’s rioting.  Sales at Max Creek Outdoors in Oregon have reportedly quadrupled.  Most people looking to buy a gun are afraid of being robbed.  The problem is maintaining a supply.  The demand is outstripping the ability of gun manufacturers to keep the stores' inventories filled.


Two months before the general election, Maryland state officials were scrambling to find a company to print millions of ballots.  That’s when Minnesota-based Taylor Corporation came to the rescue.  The Maryland Board of Elections says Taylor will produce and mail up to four million ballots for November.  Baltimore Sun SeaChange had printed ballots for the primary and was originally in line to take care of the General Election – when it backed out.


 Members of the Madison Fire Department Lake Rescue Team had to stop a runaway boat and rescue the boater from Lake Mendota Sunday morning.  Dispatchers got multiple calls about an unmanned boat circling in the middle of the lake near Picnic Point.  Emergency responders were able to get the boater out of the water with the help of a civilian boater.  The victim apparently didn’t require medical attention and no names have been released.  M-F-D crew members got the empty boat under control in just a few moments.


 The University of Wisconsin-Madison is ranked among the top 20-best public schools in the nation.U-S News and World Report released rankings for colleges and universities around the country. The school is tied at 13th for Top Public Universities. Chancellor Rebecca Blank says the school is proud to see the excellence of its students, faculty and staff recognized.


The fires in California, Oregon, Colorado and other western states are coloring the sky in western Wisconsin. Forecasters say smoke from the fires will give the skies a milky quality over the next couple of days. Plumes of smoke can be seen in central Minnesota, and could make their way into Wisconsin later this week.
